World food safety day: Carton Skin

World Food Safety Day has been celebrated on June 7 every year since 2019, by order of the United Nations General Assembly.

This anniversary aims to inspire actions for the prevention and management of all risks related to food safety, to be considered as a collective responsibility for institutions, producers and consumers.

The role of packaging in food safety

In the context of food safety, food packaging represents a fundamental barrier against contamination, alterations and deterioration of products. Paper companies play a crucial role in the supply chain, designing packaging that guarantees hygiene, traceability and protection.

Using materials certified for food contact, such as paper and cardboard compliant with EU regulations (Reg. 1935/2004), is now an essential standard. Furthermore, solutions such as anti-grease barriers, natural coatings and sealing closure systems allow to increase the shelf-life of foods, minimizing waste and improving the quality perceived by the consumer.

Sustainability and safety: a possible combination

Ensuring food safety does not mean giving up sustainability. Italian paper companies are innovating to offer food-safe and green packaging, using recycled or compostable materials, while maintaining the highest standards of protection. Thanks to water-based printing technologies and the elimination of harmful substances, it is possible to obtain packages that respect the environment without compromising the microbiological and chemical safety of food.

On the occasion of World Food Safety Day, packaging is therefore confirmed as an essential tool not only for conservation, but also for consumer trust and corporate social responsibility.

Carton Skin: an efficient and risk-free solution

Carton Skin is an innovative food packaging, designed by Cartotecnica Moreschini, which aims to promote a vacuum preservation system that perfectly preserves any type of fresh food.

In particular, Carton Skin includes a film that adheres to the product thanks to the presence of vacuum technology. In a subsequent phase, the film is sealed to the lower support, thus ensuring the hermetic closure of the package.

In addition to representing a point of reference for safety and sustainability, Moreschini’s cardboard blister is also a completely customizable solution, able to adapt to the needs of any company that aims to conquer the minds and hearts of consumers.
